What the fuck is this shit?

Even if one were to overlook all the movies wokery (of which there is plenty) this film is still (structurally and thematically) cat shit out of a dog's arse. The actual 'invisibility' elements were more believable than the surrounding scenarios, dialogue and characters (so in essence, none of the movie rang true)
Once the technology behind the invisibility was explained (thus rendering it's title redundant) the movie was content to lazily pander to the oh-so-stylish (yawn) 'white-man-bad' genre.
Added to the fact that like *ALL* 21st century horror movies....any actual 'scares' were merely (ramped-up volume) 'BOO!" moments, free of any surrounding set-piece, tension or dread.

I cannot understand the audience for this?

far as I know, ALL the invisible man movies from 1933 and forward, were all white men. did you want the ol' "1 - 2 - Diversity too" to have him be black, indian, chinese, mexican, italian, female, trans, or gay instead?

reply

The skin colour of the title character (given that he was, by-and-large...invisible) was irrelevant (and such casting didn't prevent me from enjoying all the other movies you've alluded to) I'm not entirely sure why you cited the other races and sexualities....but let's be honest here, Hollywood isn't going to be casting any of the aforementioned as psychotic murderers anytime soon.

Hollywood clearly has a hard-on for both 'Men' (likely to sate the Feminists) and
specifically 'White Men to sate the BLM crowd) Greatly exemplified by the (over virtuous) black police officer (replete with daughter) and a level of righteous 'saccharine' that would make even the most jaded 'Gillette' executive vomit?

And to hammer the point home, the White guy was also an wife beating piece of shit too. The invisibility aspect seemed like an after-thought, tagged on, because the target demographic for this movie, likely hate men (regardless of their molecular density) but likely have sufficient 'victimhood' points to outright hate black men (thus ticking more boxes and fanning flames further)

And on top of it all (agenda aside) the movie was just plain, flat-out, shit.

I'm surprised it wasn't called 'The Invisible He/Him/Them'?

I thought it was poor. Far prefer Hollow Man.

reply

Agreed.
A lot nastier, but featuring actual characters (instead of 'agendas')
This was just box-ticking (with the invisibility aspect, a mere afterthought) amongst all the other stuff that was shoe-horned in around it?

reply

Hollow Man is probably the best film feature of the written story
the '33 Invisible Man is OK too

But... when he wasn't invisible his suit was black!

If being against domestic abuse is woke then OK. I mean women shouldn't control or beat guys either. And as a white person myself, yeah, some white men are bad. Some white women are bad. Humans in general suck.
