How did Brad Pitt win Best Supporting Actor?

It was such a standard performance that didn't really require much nuance. Joe Pesci should've won in my opinion.

Willem Dafoe for the Lighthouse

A standard performance and co-lead in my opinion, it’s one of those times they just gave it to him for who he is. I bet Angelina is overjoyed! HAHA

It didn't make sense. He does not have testicles and it appears he may have a vagina.

It's almost like these awards are a joke and just pander to whatever situation needs to be pandered to. Pitt needed an Oscar, so they gave him one, simple as that.

reply

Pretty much... although the truth is they are more a result of celebrities getting marketing campaigns for the Oscars written into their contract to do a particular movie. The only award that was out of the blue was Parasite for the best movie and it was more a factor of the large field of movies managing to split votes.

"it was more a factor of the large field of movies managing to split votes. "

With Parasite being considered the best by more of the Academy voters.

We all know the Oscars are a joke but Parasite was pretty good. What was your favorite film this year in general?

reply

Probably was a coin toss between Jojo and Ford, though none of the movies were really great and all had flaws. Frankly I think too many were included, the Irishman was to me the most undeserving to even be included.

reply

That's a quite accurate description of the oscars.

MY FAVORITE CHARACTER IN MY FAVORITE FILM OF THE YEAR…I CANT PROCESS ANY OTHER CRITERIA FOR WINNING A STATUE.

reply

Because the Oscar has never been a trophy for a job well done. That's an illusion sold to us sheeple. It's symbology for their cult.
