I'm surprised at how (somewhat) dull this documentary series is thus far

And I love documentaries and it's a fascinating subject. I can't figure it out. Also, Mark Vicente rubs me the wrong way. He seems like a giant dork and married a woman young enough to be his daughter.

He spent something like 10+ years of his life frolicking among the slaves of this Vanguard moron supposedly without a single clue of what was going on. Now he is trying to profit for that gigantic waste of time and the attention it has gotten. I don't think he can really say what went on, what he knows and what he didn't know, so he put this thing out that was as confusing as possible while touching on the major notes of this sad scandal.

If you read about him he swindled people out of huge fortunes playing these games of multi-level marketing pretend. So many women involved in this, quite a few actresses. I was surprised to see Grace Park's name in there, the woman who played Athena on Battlestar Galactica. I would not be surprised to find that there is so much incredible corruption in Hollywood when you consider all the global reach of people like Harvey Weinstein and others.

I could that same thing around the third of fourth episode and I had a real hard time believing it. Mark Vicente was a scumbag ring leader of this cult who at best enable Keith Raniere's criminal activity and at worst executed a lot of it.

I am curious if the nature of the deal that Vincente made with the feds will ever come out.

Episode 3 was a time ripoff! It was all audio. They just showed video of those stupid color coded sashes flowing in the wind for. the. whole. hour.

They could have cut out 75% of this show. So many clips of ugly Keith saying all this convoluted nonsense. It added nothing to the story other than making me wonder over and over how these people could be so gullible.

You mean you didn't enjoy the endless volleyball scenes and Keith walking around in matching sweat suits?

reply

Ugh, I want to un-see all that. 🤮

With exceptions here and there, I found it very dull, skipping through most episodes

While I enjoyed the Vow, the other series Seduced: Inside the NXIVM Cult series may be worth a shot if you found the Vow moved too slowly. It follows India Oxenberg, who was still in the cult when they were making the Vow, I guess.
