Cersei deserved way worse

After 8 seasons of building her up as this vile despicable bitch, the main villain of the show, someone no one could touch, she gets took out by rubble? Fuck that, she deserved to be devoured by Drogon, not fire just by being ripped apart by Drogon's teeth.

reply

Yeah, I was hoping Drogon would flame her good.

I rest easy though imagining that Cersei survived the falling blocks and dirt and stuff, and is just buried alive--gasping for air.

reply

Yeah thats a nice thought, i could be a bit more satisfied with it knowing she was still alive trapped under rubble barely able to breath and not dying for days.

reply

Yeah, when we were watching the other day, I said I hope she gets trapped in the same dungeon room where she and Joff kept Ned back in Season 1, pitch black, and no way out. Full circle.

reply

There are many people wishing desperately that she is still alive so something more horrible could happen to her for ending. That certainly would make my day and make 8 years of watching this show more worth it.

But I'm afraid we're all going to be disappointed...she's dead and that's her ending and it's a terrible ending.

reply

I agree. Even if the writers didn’t want to go with something super brutal for her characters demise, they still should have written her death with something a bit more dramatic than falling rocks...

It’s almost laughable thinking back to all those threads with people wondering:
“Who do you think will kill Cersei?..”
No one (for good reason) would have guessed “Debris”. Just another example of how down hill the writing went.
Or maybe it’s simply because “D&D” were over it all. Onto the next project...

Imagine if during season 6 after her “walk of shame”, you were told that Cerise, one of the main villains of the show, if not the main villain (after the debacle they did with the Night King) would meet her end with a cave in...

reply

It's terrible! I can't imagine what they were thinking in writing a cave in as her demise. I honestly can't fathom it from a fan standpoint. They did a BRILLIANT job of writing for this character and making her so hated and loathsome and then they end her in that way? What the hell are they thinking.

Many people are upset about Dany going mad...etc...etc...etc...blah blah blah....but I'm here saying "You can't kill that Cersei bitch like that! It can't be right!" IF that is indeed her ending...those two hacks deserve to never work again on any show or movie! Bastards!

reply

I know. Im still hoping for a miracle that she is still alive, so she can die the way that she deserves!

reply

I half way expected them to pull a Carrie. Ya know a hand comes up from the rubble or something like that. She and her brother died in each other's arms or at least she died with a dick inside her. Either way I was actually looking forward to seeing Arya confront Queen fucks anyone who she sees fit over having Ned dispatched. If Arya had stabbed Cerci with needle it would not have been the first prick she had. Yes I know all of that for one bad sex joke.

I think the user called EloraWood put it perfectly in another thread (https://moviechat.org/tt0944947/Game-of-Thrones/5cdc74e4363143504b1c5927/Character-arcs-disregarded):

And depending on how you look at it, it is a great death for her: no epic, memorable death, nobody to witness it and retell it, no special treatment; just fear and being buried by what she tried to hold on to the most.

She dies just like one of the commoners she despised so much. Moreover, as a direct consequence of underestimating her enemy, showing brutally that she is nowhere near as smart as her father was.

If she had been given a choice what kind of death she’d have – I bet that’s the last thing she would have chosen. (Well, maybe second to last with the very last being shot dead on the toilet by Tyrion, but they already used that. ;-))

And thus, in my opinion it’s exactly the death she deserved.

reply

Why is everyone just assuming she is dead? I mean of course it would make sense for her to have died, no shit; she got crushed by a fucking boulder. However, I can easily see her and Jaime surviving as we "technically" didn't see them die. This shit has happened plenty of times in GOT, where characters have survived seemingly impossible feats. Look at the time in season 7 episode 4 where Jaime got hit into the water with his full plated armor and swam to shore; he should have fucking sunk to the bottom like an anchor! Or even look at season 8 episode 4 where Tyrion got hit by a wooden pole in the water, yet somehow swam to shore and survived. I wouldn't be surprised if she lived; in fact, I'd be more surprised if she actually died.

reply

We also didn’t see Stannis die, technically.
Yet he didn’t return … okay, we’ve got one episode left, but since Roose Bolton mentioned that he’s dead (not "missing"), I guess it’s safe to say that he IS dead.

I’m not saying that this makes it impossible that Cersei survived, I’m just saying that there also have been examples… okay, ONE example in which an important characters has died off-screen.

*SPOILERS FOR FINALE* I thought I'd come back here after watching the finale, and I've got to say that I didn't expect them to actually kill Cersei and Jaime. I thought they were gonna have them somehow miraculously survive (because of bad writing and plot armour). I do agree; Cersei did deserve way worse. Just getting crushed and instantly killed was an anti-climax. Oh well.

Lena Heady’s script for this season could fit on a post-it note. Lots of scenes of Cersei staring out balconies and ramparts but minimal to zero vocabulary uttered. What were her last words? “i don’t want to die” ? Sheesh, Missandei went out with more guts and glory.

reply

So underwhelming that is for sure!

reply

I remember being disappointed back in season 4 when I thought I had waited years for even one of the most despicable characters of GOT to get their due and it ended up with Joffrey's relative quick and easy death..
It's not the first time I've been disappointed.
I would've liked to see some elements of the prophecy come to pass with Cersei.
I still would with anyone.
And having both the NK and Cersei be set up as so invincible and then fall like domino's doesn't sit well either. But I can live with how she didn't live.
I'm still much more disappointed in the way the Jaime arc was handled.

His death was painful and while somewhat fast, he had time to let it sink in that the end was near and worse yet, he believes it was at the hands of the man he hated the most.
