shareI don't think its his fault. He was trying to help everyone else get out safely. Not even Jon knew that the NK had the ability to kill the dragon so easily. Then, after the dragon died, he sacrificed himself to save everyone else. I personally thought he was being heroic, but he seems to have 9 lives.
