Was "The Incredible Hulk" really that bad? (Marvel Cinematic Rankings)

It wasn't really bad, but it wasn't really good either.

Hardly, I think it's the MCU's most underrated movie.

Much better than the other Hulk movie, or the Hulk in the Avengers movies.

The worst rendition of Hulk.

It wasn't bad at all. The Eric Bana version was much worse.

I'll agree on that. The Eric Bana one was a little too dark for my taste. Though it was trying to be like the comic in the way they did his backstory with his father. Though the big difference between comic and movie is that his father died years before Banner became the Hulk in the comics. Though they did end up revealing in the 80s that the Hulk is Banner's alternate personality that came from his dad's abuse and that he'd managed to suppress til getting hit with gamma rays.

But I do prefer this MCU one. I feel like they should have waited to release it. At the time it came out nobody knew it was connected to Iron Man. Maybe if they'd released it the same year as Iron Man 2 and had better advertising to connect it to the MCU it would've been more successful. It sucks that because of rights issues it can't be put on Disney Plus.

My feeling is that most people thought it was okay. I remember reviews were generally favourable, but not "wow!".

The background story is the studio and star Norton clashed creatively behind the scenes. Norton was punted. Norton has always insisted that his version of the movie would have been much better. Who knows?
