NBC removes blackface episodes from all streaming services.

Oops, liberals caught in hypocrisy again.

This is bowdlerizing. It's erasing history. It is both a slap in the face of freedom of expression and an attempt to wash-hands and sugar-coat historical facts.

Warner Brothers - to their everlasting credit - released old Looney Tunes cartoons with heinous propaganda and racial stereotypes. They released them with a warning and an acknowledgement that they were wrong - then and now - but to pretend they didn't exist would just magnify the problem.

These streaming services need to add warnings and maybe an additional button to confirm "yes, I want to watch this" so it doesn't just "auto-play", but they shouldn't act like they didn't get made.

How many episodes were there?

Like 2 I think?

Okay then if I remember correctly they were both done by Jenna.

So it couldn't have been racist, just misguided, because Jenna is nuts.

tina took them down,
support her truth

reply

How so?
Good people make mistakes. Bad people don't want to improve from them.

Liberals are always forgiven for their transgressions.

While (re)watching this series on blu-ray (excellent release btw) I noticed that there are multiple episodes with "whiteface" characters. Are they going to remove those too?

I'm glad I saw this thread. I own the first three seasons on DVD and I just ordered used copies of the remaining seasons (which won't have been bowdlerized).

This is laughable. And sad. Like Pagliacci.

Pretending that the past didn't happen only guarantees that it will happen again.
