There's something off about this movie...

Well, there's a lot off about this movie. The shaky cam, the amateurish lighting, the forced acting/dialogue, the constant homages to the previous movies. The entire movie just felt way too self conscious. The worst of the bunch. Still better than the Creed movies though which are forgettable trash.

I like the movie, but it definitely has the look and feel of a college student film or the films screened at fan conventions.

Kind of easy to forget now but Stallone had been pretty much shut out of Hollywood at the time, nobody really wanted this but him and a few die hards, it was a minor miracle that it got made at all and did as well as it did. $24million sounds like a decent budget for a boxing movie, but even by 2006 it didn't stretch as far as it used to, and the prior two films had bigger budgets than that even before adjusting for inflation.

I think most of the movie was shot on digital. Sure as hell looked that way. Early digital at that.

This movie is like one of the best ones.

I don't know the popular film terminology, but it's gotta be a different kind of camera. It's noticeably different. Like watching a sictom vs a drama or TV show vs a movie - you simply notice the difference.

I liked this one.

It's much of its time the same way IV is very 80s and V is early 90s.

reply

Doesn't help either how fake Stallone looks in this movie due to all the growth hormones he was taking for the movie.
