bette rthan original?

i cant imagine it is

reply

No, but it's a solid remake in my opinion.

reply

It is a very solid remake, I agree.

reply

I found the 2003 remake overrated.

reply

Overrated? Really?? I find that bizarre, considering it didn’t get widespread acclaim. I’d argue it’s overhated, especially as most of its hate stems from the Michael Bay hate bandwagon or just typical remake hate.

^TRUTH.

I just didn't find it very interesting, and have watched it twice. And I had no idea who directed it.

I'd heard good things about it. But aside from Jessica Biel's performance, there was nothing that held my interest in the remake.

Hey. There was nothing wrong with that movie, man.

Ha Ha.

reply

It definitely is better Han the original.

reply

Nope.

reply

Definitely not. Not even close. The original is a highly effective masterpiece that feels like a horrific real life crime caught on camera. Most of the horror is suggested and quite subtle so you have to use your imagination. The remake is typical glossed over MTV boredom that spoon feeds the horror to the audience.

There was barely any suspense or scenes of genuine terror in the 2003 version. It was just loud and in your face. The scene at the dinner table in the original where Sally is tied up and screaming as the cannibal clan are eating her dead friends is far scarier than anything in the newer film. You really felt Sally’s fear as a helpless and traumatized victim, you felt like you were actually in her place.

Whereas Erin in the remake was barely even phased by these brutal crimes and even fought back as a tough-as-nails badass heroine who frequently put herself in danger to save the day. That might make for a better and more complex character, but it’s not nearly as scary when you can’t relate to the what is being portrayed on screen. I didn’t feel scared for her cause I know she would not only escape, but even defeat the villains who were pursuing her.

And aside from R. Lee Ermey’s character and Leatherface himself, the evil family in the remake were ANNOYING as hell!

I liked the original much more. It was very suspenseful and had a gritty atmosphere.
