Based extremely loosely on a true story, kind of.

They shouldn't have said this was about John Nash. It was fine as a fictional film about a maths genius with a mental illness.

I imagine a lot of people who are afraid of reading would watch this film and come away with the wrong impression of the man and his life story.

I just finished watching it with tears in my eyes. Especially his devotion to his wife. Then I went to wiki and learned the true story and I totally agree with you.

It's a wonderful story and very insightful into mental illness. I'm just left feeling betrayed by hollywood.... When. Will. I. Learn.

I wonder how Nash's family felt about it being such a lie of his life. And did they feel used and manipulated by hollywood? I sure would have.

reply

I agree, it was entertaining but the youtube documentery on nash at least got the facts straight, nash didn't even like his anti psychotics but in this film, oh he's on second generation drug now so he's better

tons of other things i gripe about also, just go on youtube and watch the documentary, screw this movie

do wanna check out the han solo movie though heard good things

Many times, you will find that the story is better than the truth. I have a lot of stories that are better with additions and subtractions. The point is the story.

It's not the truth, but it's like the truth.

reply

Not that much like the truth. There was a guy named John Nash who won the Nobel prize and suffered from schizophrenia. Beyond that, it's pretty much made up.

reply

If you are watching a movie as a documentary then perhaps the mistake is yours.

reply

Not really an accurate depiction of schizophrenia either.

Hollyweird can make any disease or condition be as they want it to be. Let's say the protagonist has pinky toe cancer. Boom, in Hollyweird he has super powers. Hollyweird is crazy about facts, I mean how they portray them. An average Superman live action movie has as much reality in it as just about any big budget movie made in the last 30 years.

reply

Most Hollyweird stories that are based on a true story are at the very least spruced up with some excitement and at the most the entire point of an event or a person's life is changed to make Hollyweird happy.

Given that any biopic is going to prune and contort many elements of a subject’s life, what is this movie guilty of that others in the genre aren’t?

reply

Nothing. They all suck and are for the fatuous.

Cool story Hitler 👍🏻
