instead of calling anakin a slave

padme should have called him an enslaved person

reply

Why? That's the term.

reply

i recently heard somebody say that that's what we should call them for now on because slavery shouldn't define who a person is.

even though star wars takes place before our times, the universe seems to be way more advanced and i figured padme might have already had this sensibility.

reply

This is fantastic satire!

reply

That, or "intern".

I would have liked for Lucas to come up with a new made up word.

Just like he comes up with names for characters, species, planets...
he could have come up with a word equivalent for 'slave' in the
Star Wars universe.

I think what we should really be asking is why didn't Anakin, Obi-Wan or Padme buy or rescue Anakin's mother from Watto immediately after the events of Episode I. 10 years of neglect, and she pays the ultimate price.

reply

Should have called him an indentured servant, like they call the Irish, Welsh, and Scottish slaves in the U.S.

reply

Slave will do fine.
