Do you think Rose loved her husband?

In the movie they make it appear that she didn't really love him all that much. Even with her coy little admission and the fact that she never told him about Jack implies this to me, imho.

It would have been better to just have liver her life freely, adopt a couple of kids and raise them on her own and then by the movie's end she explains why she never married in the first place.

To me this is the shortfall of Rose's character. It's like what Spielberg failed with Roy in Close Encounters of the Turd Kind. He just up and leaves his wife and kids without any after thought.

I mean, she was 17. She's not going to just never marry because of Jack. It's not what Jack would have wanted either. He said he wanted her to have kids of her own and die an old age. He wouldn't have wanted her to never be without romance.

I didn't get that impression at all. I understood that line to mean that Jack was her first love, the man she never forgot and who taught her how to love and be herself. Many people never forget their first love, but then go on to live happily married lives with other people.

I don't think she would have married Calvert if she didn't at least feel some affection towards him.

Yes, I dont think she'd marry someone if she didnt love him.

I also suspect she fell in love with a few other guys. Her heart was free, and so were various other organs!

Of course she did. I have loved more than one women in my life. Loving someone is the easy part of a relationship. Living with someone is the hard part.
