Space Jam: Everything wrong with 90's movies

Space Jam is the quintessential 90's movie. As a story it's basically as bare bones as they get, Michael Jordan needs to play basketball with the Looney Tunes to save the world.

Space Jam should be used as an example of including everything wrong with movies in the 90's. Huge sports stars who can't act, blaring soundtrack from the latest hip hop and r&b stars, product placement and the attempts at making Bugs and crew up to date and hip.

It's a shining example of the corporate synergy and marketing of a product rather then an actual movie.

This movie is just one, sloppy wet kiss to Michael Jordan.

F him for screwing the Pacers out of the finals in 1998.

you know What's really big today with kids a lot? ...wrestling
So if Space Jam never existed but was made today...
It would be a movie about Wrestling to appeal to kids, where BROCK LESNAR Or BOOKER T will meet the cast of the Looney Tunes.
Kim Kardashian would make a Cameo.
The Music would be made by Miley Cyrus, 50Cent, Kanye and Pitbull.
Toys of Kim Kardashian would be made to sell to kids.

sounds wonderful

Wrestling? based on what, your childhood however many years ago? Kids today are drones that slave away in video games, primarily Minecraft. There's a reason Microsoft spent billions to acquire it.

reply

based on the toys I see at toy stores and based on all the commercials I see my little cousin watching when he watches cartoons. turn your tv on a Saturday morning and you will see at least 50 commercials for Wresting toys.
go to any toys r us and check the wrestling section. Minecraft only has one Shelf, wrestling actually has a full section

that was just an example anyway. of how awful this movie is

reply

The movie actually makes fun of its own story and how corporate-commercialistic it is, a great way for it to be enjoyed by both kids and adults.

Even worse was what started the so-1990s silver age,..TINY TOON ADVENTURES>.too brash and wild and more.Give me thje old ones.Anbd I hate the Billy Weest (the back stabber who helped Nick. ruin REN AND STIMPY, leaivng John Krifcalusi, who tried to save animation, though Kricfalusi been right up there with SJ soundtrack singer R.Kelly recently for child flirting/diddlng).became Bugs. Lola? what happened to Daisy Lou (1947's HARE SP{LITTER) or Honey bUnny (no animation appearnaces.)

reply

it's just a fun kids movie lol, it wasn't meant to be any kind of masterpiece that was gonna change the movie industry.

reply

90s movies, especially action movies, are way better than today.

The movie acknowledged the product placement and did it with a wink to the audience.

"Michael, time to leave for the game. Put on your Hanes, grab your Nikes, drink a Gatorade and I'll pick you up a Big Mac on the way."

reply

I never accepted the idea that some basketball player was the most important person on Earth.

reply

But you have to remember that this is a movie, where it's natural that people can interact with cartoon characters.
Or that aliens can just steal someone's talents for playing basketball.
Thus, it is hardly far-fetched either in-universe that Michael Jordan could get such importance for a short while.
It is not supposed to be a realistic movie at all.
