Now that we have Adam Driver playing McCauley in HEAT 2, who are you hoping signs on to play Hanna, Shiherlis, Cheritto, and Trejo?

I’ll start.

Jake Gyllenhaal for Hanna

Ryan Gosling for Shiherlis.

Ben Foster for Cheritto.

Michael Peña for Trejo.

and it has already garnered rave reviews from the novella review circuit.

Michael Mann has already written the novel, and I am assuming it will be a straight to script adaptation, similar to No Country For Old Men, which is nearly word for word, scene to scene from Cormac McCarthy’s source material, which is bloody brilliant as the writing is the most important part of a film, imo.

I haven’t read the novel because I want to go into the film knowing nothing, I prefer it that way for films I’m stoked about.
The title of the novel is
Heat 2 1988-2000,
so I believe it’s safe to assume there are going to be scenes before and after the events that took place within Heat.
We will most likely get two perspectives of our characters, that of their younger selves leading up to the events in Heat as well as that of their older selves living in the aftermath.

Why is this happening again?? Is a sequel to HEAT really needed?? DOCTOR SLEEP didn't do The SHINING any favors, despite being decent for a movie no one asked for??

It’s happening because Michael Mann feels it’s worth dipping his toes in to, and given what he’s given us, I feel that he is entitled to make whatever he wants to, especially considering it’s his writing and direction that gave us the source material.

Heat 2 is in development with Adam Driver playing a young Neil McCauley, but which actor should play a young version of Val Kilmer's Chris Shiherlis?

I sincerely think Michael Gandolfini would be better off playing Michael Cerrito(Sizemore's character) because James Gandolfini and Sizemore(RIP to both) reminded me a lot of each other in terms of their presences and acting styles, and if the younger Gandolfini could channel his father(one of the few good things about MSON), then surely he could channel Sizemore as Cerrito.

Colin Farrell could potentially be good as a young Hanna. He can do dark, focused, driven, and brooding, as well as charismatic and boisterous.

I really wish Michael Mann would've just left well enough alone and that we don't need a Prequel or any backstory on these characters that will make it worse than just leaving it as it is, but whatever..
