Did not like the racism..

Ramsey made the comment about Lippizaner stallions, from Portugal, and them being "all white". Hunter responds that they are not from Portugal, but from Spain, and at birth, they are black. Ruined the movie, kinda. Why can't black and white antagonists in a movie just fight without racism? This was a fantastic, thrilling movie! Don't ruin it by putting racism into it.

reply

Yeah, I didn’t like it either. It’s not enough that the captain was in the wrong and lacking in sophistication and, at times, decency, he had to be racist, too. I rolled my eyes.

reply

You, are ignorant beyond belief.

reply

I could explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.

reply

I only like racism when it's against white people. Then it's ok.

reply

Was it meant as some kind of metaphor? The two characters using the horses colour as a means of claiming their own race is superior?

reply

No. There was no racism implied. They never even argued about the color of the horses. The argument was if they were from Spain or Portugal.
The OP and people agreeing are the racists because they have been brainwashed to think of everything in terms of whites oppressing blacks due to racism.
The actual discussion in that scene was a nuanced way of showing how Denzel's character was not rigid "black and white/right or wrong" thinking but Hackman's character was.
It was meant to showcase how they thought and commanded differently, NOT that Ramsey(Hackman) was a racist...

FFS! These people do nothing but search for things they can perceive as racist through their own brainwashed minds.

If it wasn't so sad/scary it would be hilarious.

reply

I'm not into all that race bating shit either and if made today the argument would not have happened as one of them would have Googled the answer.

reply

it is best to ignore this shit film.

this film is overblown. it is written by simple minded hack. it is directed by simple minded hack. it is cheap knock off of Mutiny on the Bounty, but with race baiting to add more tensions because the 90s was start of obess with race in film.

this film is also rip off of Das Boots (music) and Hunt for Red Octobers. just a dumb retard version of all this film.

reply

Don't sugar-coat it.
Tell us what you really think.

That was Tarantino writing!
