Eye of the Needle

Did Tuvok really need to blurt out in front of everyone that the Romulin scientist had died 4 years ago, so their personal messages might not have arrived?

Talk about a buzz killer. He instantly lowered morale on the whole ship for no reason. Just STFU, tell Janeway in private.

reply

Agreed. Straight-up, party-pooping, moral-busting, punk-ass bitch. No one ever needed to know that.

reply

He's Vulcan. They're pretty hardcore on the truthiness thing.

reply

Here's the thing that's always bothered me about the Vulcan logic. Within a pure Vulcan group, it works from a pure logic standpoint . But humans are emotional. Logic would dictate that human emotions should be accounted for when interacting with a blended group that included humans.

So, just in this example, since emotions would be a factor in this context, the logical thing to do would be to have more tact and judgment in what he says and how he says it.

reply

No the Vulcans would argue that doing that would be like giving alcohol to an alcoholic.

reply

I see your point. After all, using some tact about when/how to disclose the info is not lying. Maybe a Vulcan wouldn't agree and would think allowing an untruth to perpetuate is never acceptable.

reply

He tells three bridge crew. Janeway, Torres, and Kim.

Totally reasonable.

reply

Kim is the last person he should've told. Kick a man while he's down why don't ya. He's lucky Kim didn't beam him into the vacuum of space by 'accident'.

reply

Torres does not work on the bridge
