Worst Storylines

To me, it's the ones that are so far from believable that they're basically insulting to your intelligence. Topping that list are the one where Chandler couldn't crack a normal smile for a photograph and the one where Joey couldn't repeat simple French phrases.

I also don't like it when scenes get too emotional, though I'm probably in the minority on that one.

No contest. Joey/Rachel romance attempt was THE WORST storyline.
Fans didn’t want it. The actors didn’t want to do it. The response was so against it the producers cut it short.

They should've just kept it at a fling. Would've been in line with Joey's personality as well as Rachel's temporary infatuation with him in season 9. That whole scheduled "powering through" sex and Joey staring Rachel in the eye and saying, "I love ya" was all pretty awkward.

Monica and Magnum PI. It was uncomfortable

Because of the age difference?

reply

Yeah. Also how their relationship started and how he treated her like a little girl due to her immaturity.

That's one of my favorite storylines (possibly because I really like Tom Selleck and I sort of identify with Monica). A 20-year age difference is unusual, but certainly not unheard-of as long as the people involved are both adults. I thought they handled it very realistically, with various people's reactions and the way they wrapped it up.

Oh, and the scene where Monica encounters him again (after they broke up the first time) and doesn't recognize him because he doesn't have a mustache -- that was hilarious! As I recall, they played fair with the audience, showing Richard pretty clearly in the background as she walks past him -- but Selleck really does look entirely different without the mustache.

Every time they had to get rid of love interests once they'd served their purpose, they always made them suddenly crazy or weird.

Kathy instantly cheats.
Gary just shoots a bird with his gun.
Danny likes to bathe with his sister.
Charlie suddenly still loves her ex.
Emily becomes a loon (even phoning Ross on the eve of her marriage to see if he wants to get back together). Etc.

I totally forgot about Gary randomly shooting a bird upon waking up lmao.

lol

That puzzled me for a while too (and I'm totally with Phoebe), but now I'm thinking he's a cop, right, and he seems to work the evening shift, so he gets to bed kinda late and likes to sleep in -- but then this darned bird wakes him up early every morning. I suppose that could get to a person. Kinda like the time the guy across the street started a garage band. (Of course I just asked if he'd be so kind as to close the garage door -- but you can't reason with birds.)

Joey's hand twin. Joey's non-proposal to Rachel. TOW phoebe's cookies, also the same episode Rachel and Joey go sailing (boring). Phoebe getting possessed by an 80yo woman who died at her table.

Been a long time since I saw Friends, but I didn't like Joey and Rachel hooking up, and I loathed the whole Emily thing.
