mine is definitely

giuoco piano /evans gambit
1. e4 e5
2. Nf3 Nc6
3. Bc4 Bc5
4. b4 !!

1. Pawn a2 to a4
2. Pawn h2 to h4

Opens up a passageway for the Rooks, makes them less vulnerable to getting trapped.

Had to google it. I had no idea. Thanks for that.

All I know was that when I was a beginning player, I was always told to never, ever push your "f" pawn.

My post was tongue-in-cheek.

that's cause moving the f-pawn weakens the file in front of the (short) castled king's diagonal.
but The King's Gambit and other lines that favor a sharp attack are pretty common.

Danish Gambit. Sacrifice two pawns for rapid development and vicious attacks with the bishop pair.
