Kelsey's possible pitch for a revival

In a recent interview, Grammer's favorite idea for a revival involved Frederick being grown up and turning out just like Marty, preserving that old dynamic. And I can only assume perhaps, their ending up living together. Same sort of show, just inverted. I think that's a pretty solid approach for how to make a new Frasier show work. Especially now that Mahoney has passed on.

Interesting.

I don't think I would like it. Frederick was a weak point of the show for me and I never really liked his character that much. The episodes with him were good in spite of him, not because of him. I don't think I'd like him as a main character.

I do miss this show and I'll miss Mahoney. His character of Martin Crane was amazing and his everyday man persona meeting the uppity, posh Frasier and Niles worked on so many levels.

I agree as well, Frederick added nothing to the show all the while we got laughs from Martin, Bulldog, Daphne, Roz, Gil, and even Kenny! They all were there to make Frasier and Niles look like the buffoons they truly were.

reply

While I agree that the writers didn't seem to know what to do with that character, a grown up Frederick would be a different thing entirely.

reply

Yes, i'm sure they'd cast a new actor as well. It would really have nothing to do with the old show.

reply

I don't know if it'd work, to have a kid who's been raised in a prosperous, education-focused environment to behave like an old cop who spent years on the streets refining his gruffness and cynicism. So Grammer's pitch couldn't be taken too literally.

reply

Frasier was a great show. It was the most successful spin off series. I don't think a revival would do as well.

reply

I saw another interview where he said it definitely wouldn't be in Seattle. And that it would be a next chapter of Frasier's life, so they wouldn't be doing a retread of Frasier or picking up where that show left off. Unless perhaps picking up from the literal last episode. But definitely not business as usual.

reply

I'd hope we'd get Laura Linney back, she was good for Frasier and I don't want him to have to be single and searching yet again.
