Why is Kevin the one to blame on the Christmas Pageant?

You ever heard the phrase "two wrongs don't make a right"? Just because Buzz started it doesn't mean that Kevin is exempt from his part. Buzz apologized, an insincere one, but the parents don't know that they didn't hear the "trout sniffer" comment. All they know is that Kevin refused to apologize and them lashed out at the whole family, hence why he got into more trouble than Buzz.

Kevin should've played it "Apology accepted, Buzz. That was very big of you." And then mic drop.

His family is stupid, that's why. The fact that the parents can lose him twice in two years prove that they are not the most attentive.

I know this may not be the popular stance, but if I were the parent I would have grounded Buzz for two weeks following the trip for instigating the incident and Kevin for two days for reacting during the presentation. Yes, I know that Kevin only reacted to being humiliated, but he has to learn not to act on his impulses. It was not the time/place for retribution.

you are right, of course Buzz is to blame. In reality, the school and the other parents would be furious with him for ruining the concert. But somehow in this film the little horror is allowed to get away with everything. h e is totally obnoxious.

I find it a repeat of what happened the year before in the first film with the pizza.

Obviously Buzz is the favored son and a suck-up, so he gets away with a lot more with those idiot parents than Kevin does. What really gets me is the fact that everyone, including Kevin's family, just laughed when Buzz messed around and embarrassed Kevin during his singing solo, rather than trying to stop him. Or worse, they actually bought that fake, bald-faced lie of an apology. A more intelligent parent would have looked at Buzz for a second and then demanded a real apology instead of the fake-ass one he'd just rolled out. And seriously, nobody heard him say the trout-sniffer comment to Kevin? Are they really that deaf? I could hear something at that volume across the room.

I rather enjoyed watching Kevin call them out for their stupidity. He was the only intelligent person in the room. True, it was wrong to punch his brother, knock over the entire choir, and have the tree fall on the piano lady, but I still enjoyed the call-out he did to them. They deserved it.

Yes, that always bugged me. The pizza incident the year before could potentially be forgiven as there were a lot of people eating in a crowded kitchen so it would be difficult to know who started the fight between Kevin and Buzz. The Christmas pageant was different. They all saw what happened and gave Buzz a free pass. Also, why did they have Kevin in front of the entire family for the punishment? Somehow his siblings, cousins, aunt and uncle all have authority over him and get to be in the room when he gets punished? Kevin was right in thinking the whole family was out to get him.
