Why did it bother him so much that he was taking drugs in his house?

Like, why did Bruce Willis' character get so mad at Wayans when he was sniffing cocaine in his room, swearing and shouting at him and even threatening to kill him for it? Why is it such a huge problem for him?

reply

He was a man of principle, the last boy scout.

This was a point in US history were a large percentage of America still believed that The Drug War was a noble cause, and that if we didn't wipe out addiction once and for all, the world would come to an end. This mindset was rampantly displayed in popular fiction of the time also

Don't forget punching him in the face. I guess despite being a down & out "bum", he still had some of his "Boy Scout" principles & he likely felt somewhat betrayed because he was secretly a fan of Wayan's character's sports career. And yes while he may have been slightly dramatic about it considering they were getting a long pretty well up to that point, most people would be upset about a guest using drugs in their home. Especially so with his daughter around.

Was Willis right to act in this way?

reply

Would you want someone doing coke in your house?

reply

No, but I don't know if I would angrily shout and punch someone like that for it, especially if we formed a friendship.

reply

The punch may have been a bit over the top but I suppose it was fitting for Willis' character.

reply

So I guess it can at least be UNDERSTOOD even if not 100% condoned.

reply

If someone brought drugs into my house, I'd probably have the same reaction.

was it coke tho?

doesent quite fit with his pain story
