Is Sean Kanan's Mike Barnes coming back for Cobra Kai season 5? Here everything that's known about the chances of the villain appearing.

reply

Been nagging at me how they can work him in. Seems he has as much reason to hate Silver and Kreese as Daniel does. After losing the match they probably dropped him back in whatever hole they found him in. And since the dojo has been running without him, he might even interpret that as he's been cheated of his fair share.

reply

He wasn’t in a backwater hole…. he was a karate champion with national exposure. He was even on the cover of a magazine.

reply

Nowhere does it say he is a champion. It says he is a tournament terror.
Either way, after his loss to Daniel he probably slipped off in to obscurity.

reply

How could he achieve national recognition without being a champion? Stop being obtuse and guard the jewels.

reply

By being infamous (ie tournament terror)

Stop being obtuse and guard the jewels.

Wake up and smell the coffee. You are making a bigger fool of yourself than usual.

reply

No way you would make the cover of a karate magazine and not be a tournament champion. That’s why Silver choose Barnes, he was a known winner and thus a safe horse to bet on. Now stop being obtuse!

reply

There is a big difference between tournament champion and national champion. Furthermore, martial arts magazines often do features on fighters both famous and infamous. Barnes was the latter. If you notice who wrote the piece on Barnes it is Pat Johnson. Now it is not uncommon for people with a high standing in the Karate community to have a column in a martial arts magazine. Johnson probably travelled to and officiated at many tournaments. It would be no surprise for him to, in his column, mention different martial artists he has come across in those tournaments. Especially somebody as controversial as Barnes, a talented fighter who is also a bit of a dirty fighter. Hence Tournament Terror.

reply

Do you think you could beat Mike Barnes?

reply

Yes

reply

What advantages do you think you have over him?

reply

Plenty

reply

You think you can rely on that British crap? There’s nothing you’ve got that he can’t counter. Your karates a joke. Barnes would destroy you with his superior training and fitness.

Have you ever been the subject of an article in a Karate magazine?

reply

You think you can rely on that British crap?

Karate is Japanese

There’s nothing you’ve got that he can’t counter. Your karates a joke. Barnes would destroy you with his superior training and fitness.

And you know this how? Oh that's right you don't.

Have you ever been the subject of an article in a Karate magazine?

Yes.

reply

What was the title?

‘Tournament Error Alan Wears’

Is it online?

reply

What was the title?

Nation Championships

‘Tournament Error Alan Wears’

Why would it be that, I won?

Is it online?

No idea, it was years ago.

reply

googled it

Karate’s Soy Boy
Tactical Error Alan Wears

reply

Liar.
It's really sad that you need to go to such lengths to put somebody down who you don't even know.
Shame on you.

reply

Wasn’t lying at all. Here’s the link if you want to save it for posterity or show your students.

reply

Your usual memes are good. This one is poor.

reply

I thought the article was poorly written myself. It lacked an intriguing subject. The guy kept going on about how the end times were coming in September and we all needed to build bunkers.

reply

I thought the article was poorly written myself.

Well you wrote it

reply

I assume now that Silver is opening CK dojos all over the valley, he’ll make good on his promise to give Barnes a percentage. Barnes won’t like Silver so much but if he is keeping old habits, he’d be okay taking the money, likely hatching a plan to take CK from Silver in the process.

reply

Why should he? Barnes lost.

reply

Why should he what?

reply

Give him a percentage

reply

So that he would agree to teach Silver’s students.

reply

Why would Silver want a loser to teach his students?

reply

No YOU'RE the loser man!

reply

Says the loser basement dweller who can't sleep for worrying about the internet forum going on without him.
Shut the fuck up you wanker!

reply

Y’know you’re really sick man!

reply

Says the person who claims to have travelled to London and back from Hawaii in one day to fight someone. A person who also claims they had a trial for someone and imprisoned them afterwards.
Get help you freak!

reply

Beat it or you’re next.

reply

3 o'clock in the morning you posted that.

What a fucking freak!

reply

Don’t!

reply

Change the record, freak!

reply

For all we know he only lost one match in his entire career. Aside from that, he has the sort of aggression Silver wants.

reply

So a billionaire business man invests in this would be champion who renegotiates the deal for twice what Silver was offering and then fails and you think Silver should employ him?
Go figure.

reply

I didn’t say he should or that it would be a wise move. I said that’s probably how the season will shake out if Barnes returns.

reply

And I simply asked why he would.

reply

And it’s pretty obvious why. I’m not even sure what you’re getting at. You’re being weirdly defensive over the potential acts of a fictional character who is known for being a coked-up psycho.

reply

Daniel?

reply

Defensive? No, simply wondering why you think a successful business man would employ someone who failed him. If you are looking at KK3 characters then surely it would be more likely Silver would use his former lackeys Snake and Dennis.

reply

That actually would make more sense since they were muscle hired by Silver with no real loyalty to Barnes.

reply

It seemed like they became fast friends, cruising the streets in their red convertible and getting into adventures around the valley. They formed a tight bond in their short time together.

reply

They weren’t friends. That’s what Silver paid them to do.

reply

They developed a camaraderie that’s evident throughout the film. They definitely enjoyed each other’s company. Wouldn’t be surprised if they kept in touch into the 90s.

reply

I'm still upset this series wasn't molded after the 2010 movie.

reply

The 2010 movie sucked. KK3 is the most consequential piece of cinema ever made which still resonates to this day.

reply

Da plane boss, da plane

reply

Its my favorite movie of all time. I wish Mr Han will make an appearance in season 5

reply

It was a shameless cash grab with none of the nuance of the original. The only thing saving it was the opponent and his sensei.

reply

The writers for Cobra Kai are on record saying the 2010 remake and the animated series are not canon, although the scrolls Chozen gives Daniel in Season 3 were easter eggs as they appeared in the animated series.

reply

I never watched The Karate Kid cartoons, nor do I recall them ever celebrating Easter in any movie or season of Cobra Kai

reply

It’s probably a plot hole.

reply

Agreed
