I find this un-watchable now.

I really liked this movie years ago. Now, it seems dated beyond belief and is so full of cliches. Melanie Griffith just doesn't look good to me in this, and I remember thinking she was really cute. Her voice is so mousy that it's like nails on a chalkboard.

I guess times and taste change.

She looks really good on this, much better than she does these days!

A lot of us looked better that many years ago. ;)

Nothing to see here, move along.

reply

ha! But Melony had a lot of plastic surgery and looks terrible now.

reply

i enjoyed a recent viewing... BUT it has aged horribly. the 80s vibes, music, fashion and etcetera is atrocious

reply

Because of all of the awful, awful, hairspray hairstyles right?
Yikes, they all looked horrible.

reply

So, movies aren't acceptable, unless they're made in the 21st century? What logic!

reply

I just watched this recently and I think it is a very good movie. Simple story but well told and very well acted by a fine cast.

reply

I agree with you.

reply

Watching it right now and enjoying it, both my wife and I. Name another movie where you get to watch a great looking woman vacuum topless. ;-)

Reasons it is still interesting to watch

Harrison Ford was cool in this.
To see Kevin Spacey before he was famous, before his career imploded.
Ditto Alec Baldwin
The “Nicaragua” wedding
Joan Cusak’s hair
Olympia Dukakis
Sigourney Weaver, a classy villain

There’s nothing taboo or interesting when the working world favors women’s successes over men’s.
