Has that rotary gun ever been used in other movies?

What a genius piece of prop creation. Has it been used elsewhere? Could a hand-held machine gun like that ever be feasible in real life? (Even the SOUND that thing makes is awesome).

Terminator 2- Judgement Day.

reply

It was the exact same gun they used, with a chainsaw handle molded to the top if it so Schwarzenegger could carry it.

reply

"feasible in real life?"

No way no how.
There are many entertaining explanation on the net of how ludicrous the idea is , some calculate the weight of ammo he would be carrying for the little 40 second barrage they fire into the jungle , others look at the recoil
also need to carry a weight of batteries.

reply

Yeah this. Apparently it's designed to be on the turret on the back of a jeep/truck. Or possibly you would need some futuristic cyborg robot with mechanical strength to use it.

reply

That's called a Gatlin Gun

reply

It is totally sick but yeah unrealistic when you actually think about it

reply

It's a Gatlin Gun and yes, it was used for the Finale of BREAKING BAD when Walter White mowed down Uncle Jack & Co to save Jesse and it was awesome

reply

When he had it hidden in trunk of car ?

What a foolproof plan that was , I cant imagine anything that could have gone wrong , no luck required.

reply

What's interesting is how Water White didn't die from Cancer but from a bullet from his own contraption while shielding Jesse

reply

indeed

- Better to burn out than fade away!

reply

I think that was an M60.

reply

Whatever it was, it was fucking awesome!!

reply

It was. It's basically an American copy of the German MG42 from WWII (the guns you see at the start of Saving Private Ryan).

reply

No, that's a misconception.
They did copy the belt feed mechanism, but that's really it. Not any significant amount of features, let alone the whole weapon system.

They are ultimately very different systems.
For starters, one is recoil operated, the other is gas operated.

reply

Yes, that's true. I didn't mean the Americans took the MG42 and just called it the M60. They would've made vast improvements to it, to the point where it became their own gun ultimately.

The Americans do dig a lot of European firearm designs. The Belgian Minimi (SAW), Sig Saur & Beretta pistols, and MP5 SMG, have all been huge successes with the American armed forces.

reply

Eh?
Walt used an M60, that's a light machine gun and has nothing whatsoever to do with the fictitious minigun depicted in Predator and T2. Well aside from both using the same caliber, but that's it, completely different weapon systems.

reply

No it wasn't feasible, it's never been used by ground infantry troops. It was designed to be used solely on gunships and fighter jets. Iirc, you can see it fired in True Lies.
