James Spader

Anybody think his role in this movie was a bad career move? I guess he could have been showing he could play characters or something, but ....

reply

Not at all. What makes you feel it was a bad career move? There is nothing to indicate it hurt his career in any way. He has become more successful than most 80's actors who were big at the time this was made. It was just a harmless, goofy role that was probably a lot of fun for him to do.

"Why couldn't the monkey arrange this from INSIDE the garbage can?"

reply

I love James Spader - this is what I first saw him in.

reply

He was absolutely awful.

reply

Although he played an obnoxious asshole in this and I've never been much of a James Spader fan, I loved every second he was on screen. His weedy character was great fun to watch.

reply

He plays that role a lot. Makes me wonder.

reply

He was just starting out - choices were probably slim. Also he did a good job

reply

He was hysterical. Quite a difference from what you expect of him, especially these days.

reply

He was hilarious at times. I just saw him in Supanova last week, a very different movie.

IT IS THE ROLE THAT CEMENTED SPADER'S PLACE IN MY HEART FOREVER.

ROBERT FUCKING CALIFORNIA!

reply

Because Spader wasn't the draw, Kim Cattrall was.

At five years old, I had the hots for her; though my Sikh conservative grandfather tried to shut down the film [e.g., VCR].
