Modine is such a nonentity. AMH had a certain magic and would have made this film even better, imo.

was AMH original choice?

i like matthew modine. he is not bad actor.

i could never see anyone but Modine in the role

I really liked Modine in this role.

He gave a hapless, frightened and fierce performance here which I thought was appropriate for the part.

I could not imagine "Farmer Ted" in Full Metal Jacket. Hall was also unconvincing as a star football quarterback in Johnny Be Good.

Yeah, Modine nailed the role. The whole cast was spot on.

Nah, Modine is great.

I heard Kubrick wasn't satisfied with AMH's John Wayne impression. Deal breaker.
