Was the final season THAT bad!?

By the final one it was painfully clear they were completely out of gas. The tornado, Al and Peg get separated, Al joins the army, Al plays Robert Englund in football, etc.

when did it begin to go downhill? at first i must say that this is by far my favorite sit-com, but i share the common opinion that the last few seasons are almost unwatchable and the roles had changed alot, my country has even skipped airing the reruns of the episodes made after 1995 a couple of times and has only had dvd release of the first two seasons. i think you already can begin to see the decline of the series in the last episodes (original neighbor/husband) steve was in, and perhaps when they added another kid to the family was the point of no return, becoming more cartoonish or slapstick like, other signs are when the studio audience went into cheer when the cast entered the door, kelly's role going from bud's witty teasing big sister to a complete airhead, the constant "broken steps to basement" and other jokes just delivered on routine... still funny moments can be found once in a while throughout the entire run. i thought "griff" and "no ma'am" rescued a bit of the later seasons.

I hope there's some sort of revival on Netflix... if Full House did it, why not MWC.
Married With Grandchildren? I would like to see Grandpa Bundy.

Fox, that cesspool of a network, fucked their tent pole show with no series climax.

season 1 was probably the worst for me.
11 was alright.

It was unwatchable in the last season. Besides the shows becoming painfully unfunny, David Faustino and Christina Applegate were getting too old for their roles. There was also too much real life bleeding into the show. Apparently, Ed O'Neill and Amanda Bearse had the exact same relationship behind the scenes as we saw onscreen and Bearse herself clearly became less interested in playing Marcie as an oversexed wife with a boy toy and just wanted to play herself as a lesbian.

It started going downhill with season 6. The first episode with Peg's pregnancy felt so off and different as if new writers and producers had come in. The acting became unfunny and the punchlines were duds. Anybody else notice that?
