DO SOMETHING ABOUT THE FAKE TERMINATOR!!!

I would like to see the special effects people work their digitally enhanced magic and make the scenes with the dummy Terminator look realistic.

reply

Yes, the robotics are woeful. They were back then too.

I actually rewatched the film tonight and thought the animatronics were pretty good. They give those scenes an appropriately eerie and unsettling quality, and I was just impressed that they built a such a complete fucking robot.

reply

Yeah, tamper with art, and change Mona Lisa, too.

That scene is incredibly creepy and effective exactly because of the animatronics, I would never want to see it changed to the awful modern CGI that always looks the same, in the same, unrealistic, crappy way.

You are seriously considering changing something that happened in the REAL world (so lighting, etc. are always perfectly realistic), not to mention in the ACTUAL EIGHTIES (for atmosphere and feel) to something some modern, cigarette-smoking nerd without a soul lazily commanded his equally soulless CGI team to make computers generate so they can justify their paycheck?

The modern people have no sense, especially common sense.

reply

Sorry, there's nothing wrong with the animatronics, they were good for 1984. And the only, ONLY Terminator movie that should have CGI is T2. Besides, sunglasses are cool for a robotic killer.

reply

there's not only animatronics in this film. some of the shots in the end are stop motion and like all stop motion they look awful (even for 80s standards).

reply

Yeah after re-watching the stop motion bit hasn't aged well but I don't know about changing it - I don't think the scene ruins the film.

reply

Leave it alone!

KenBurke, That’s part of the charm of this movie Snowflake.

It’s not Transformers.

There was a real terminator? I thought they were all fake. I guess I better go see if I can order one on ebay.

reply

That’s what you call real movie magic. So what if it looks like something from the 80s. Just gotta suspend your disbelief.
