Which rape scene is more disturbing, A clockwork orange or this...

I personally think this movie's rape scene is more disturbing because it's more realistic, and more prolonged...Date rape happens almost every day while the one is A clockwork orange is more light-hearted and more comical and cartoonish..

I agree.

this one is to me, since up to that point I was at least somewhat sympathetic towards Noodles. After he did it, I almost felt nothing for him. I always knew Alex and the droogs were unhinged and capable of madness so it wasn't as shocking

This one.

The rape scene in Clockwork Orange is by someone who has only just been established as a violent psychopath and is rapid someone we have no connection to. In Once Upon A Time In America we have spent hours with this character watching him grow into a man, seen the woman he is raping grow up and seen the development of their relationship. Plus the rape in Clockwork Orange is stylised compared to the realism of Once Upon A Time In America. This shouldn't detract from Clockwork Orange because it is still an excellent scene.

Yes but we had already gotten a sense of his moral compass from the diamond robbery

The one in OUATIA for pretty much all the reasons already given - it's realistic and gives us no reason to side with the film's main character anymore. Although it's not like anything Noodles previously did was in any way shape or form commendable (minus avenging friend), you get the sense that Deborah would be the one person he wouldn't dare hurt. But no, he went there.

You want something corny? You got it!

Clockwork orange is more horrific, as it's a rape between strangers, and ultra violent, punching, slapping, sodomy etc..

OUATIA is a scene between life long friends, who have had sexual tension their whole life, and she just kissed him right before, he just got out of prison. I would actually be shocked if Noodles just brushed off her kisses and went home despite their sexual tension.

Excuse me? Are you justifying it?!

The one in Once Upon a Time in America for the reasons already given. In A Clockwork Orange you pretty much expect the worst already from their characters.

The rape scene in A Clockwork Orange is startling but so stylised and outrageous that it feels satirical rather than true-to-life. It's still horrific, but nothing can compare to the brutality of the rape in Once Upon a Time in America. One of the most disturbing film scenes I have ever seen.

The one in OUATIA is just totally devastating. An incredibly powerful depiction of such a thing.

Cant disagree.

When I saw the movie when I was younger i just could not get my head round why Noodles did it. I was shocked and very confused.

Over the years I came to realise that Noodles was a product of his harsh upbringing, he never saw women as deserving of respect. His early sexual experiences illustrate that. And I dont think he ever grew out of that or changed his opinion. Women were there to be used.

When he is rejected by her in the car, his response is the only one he knows, that's how he believes women should be treated.

It's still to this day one of the most uncomfortable scenes in a mainstream movie.
