Did he DEMOTE him after killing him?

"Apology accepted, captain Nida" (I am paraphrasing)

Now, didn't he promote him to ADMIRAL at first? In death, he's suddenly just a captain. Did Darth REALLY have to demote him, too? Wasn't killing him evil enough?

reply

Yea I never got that either. Sounds like a plot hole

reply

No, the one he promoted to Admiral was Admiral Piett, who you still see at the end of the movie(Empire) and doesn't die until Vader's flagship crashes in Jedi.

Captain Needa was a different character.

reply

Also a different movie. Both of those scenes were from Empire, not Jedi.

reply

Different character. Piet was the one he promoted, Needa was the one he force choked.

reply

You quoted Vader perfectly!

reply

No one put Vader in place faster than Wilhuff Tarkin.

What separates the original Star Wars from the rest of the movies is Peter Cushing and Alec Guinness. Two old school British actors who really brought the gravitas. They kept it from being a cheesy “kids” movie. And their absence in the rest was noticeable.
