That's ok, Sallah got revenge by making Indy go down into the snake pit first. In the end it all worked out.

I don't think Indy was correcting him specifically. Sallah pronounced the name the way he heard the other diggers pronouncing it, and Indy didn't recognize the name for an instant. When it occurred to him who Sallah was referring to, he repeated the name the way he pronounced it.
