Prejudice against droids

Have they ever officially explained the reason for there being a prejudice against droids in the Star Wars universe? I imagine it would be something to do about some planets being ravaged by droid armies during the Clone Wars, but prejudice against droids also is shown in Attack of the Clones when R2 is denied service on the passenger ship to Naboo.

It was very hard to watch the discrimination in the OT and prequels regarding the droids. Once Disney got involved, they made sure the galaxy became woke with social justice warriors. It was obvious in this movie, the white bartender at the cantina was very racist

To be fair, Droids can't drink or eat so there isn't much point in them being in a bar like that.

reply

They could be there for the social ambience

reply

R2-D2 and C3-P0 don't strike me as being social. C3-P0 in Empire Strikes Back says he does not understand human behavior so he probably doesn't feel the need to understand sociality either. R2-D2 seems to be somewhat social with Luke in Empire Strikes Back.

Then again there is Lando's droid in the Han Solo movie who seems to be more knowledgable of such things so it's rather inconsistent.

reply

I can't imagine many droids going into a bar to get pissed.

reply

yup. also a reason for them NOT to be in there: taking up valuable space here PAYING, drinking customers could be.

droids are tools, not people.

reply

Because there had been too many incidents of unsuspecting men picking up a droid and only later discovering a circuit board in their pants instead of a vagina.
