does this hit differently now that obi wan series is out

for you? as well as solo and rogue one. knowing the back stories.

reply

Yes

I haven't seen Solo and don't count the rouge one nor Obi-Wan show as continuity canon, so no. These have no impact on this movie.

reply

You should see Solo so you can see how Han and Chewie met and how he acquired the Malenium Falcon. Plus you will see a former sith who we all thought was dead. I won't spoil it for you

reply

You mean this chap that Mace Windu and Yoda discuss having no doubt was a Sith before being destroyed:-

If it contains the missing scene where ALL the Jedi on Naboo decided they couldn't be bothered checking out Maul's remains, I'd be in...

reply

So you knew that Darth Maul came back. There was no remains to be found by the jedi. Obi Wan just reported to the council that he killed a sith

What you "count" as canon is irrelevant to what the reality is. I'd like to believe the now known as Legends novels were canonical instead of the sequel trilogy but alas I'm intellectually honest.

Genuinely sad for you that you believe that. The only true canon is what you accept as an individual.

Star Wars was bought out by a corporation. Before they struck them off the "Legends" novels you mentioned were considered canon. But simply because that same.said corporation wanted to make more money, they're suddenly no longer "canon" to you? That doesn't sound particularly intellectually honest...

reply

Do you know how foolish you sound? By your (lack of) reasoning fan fiction could be considered canon simply on an individual's whim. While I understand that words don't have intrinsic meaning, they do have common usages. You've proven you don't know the accepted meanings of intellectual honesty or canon. Try again.

reply

While I understand that words don't have intrinsic meaning...

Well despite your seeming requirement to be insulting, I'll give you some kudos for understanding that despite saying what I "count" as canon is irrelevant to that same meaningless reality.

The discusson of what one counts as canon, whether it be one's individual take or Disney's "intellectual" (maybe this is where you conflate your usage of this word) property is interesting. However given you seem to be more interested in baiting I'll just leave this here...

reply

No, I'll probably never see this Obi Wan series.

reply

Nope. I was already ignoring tons of storylines from the books and comics. It's just one more thing on the heap. And we've all been ignoring the Star Wars special and those Ewok movies this whole time. Star Wars is so huge it really is a Choose Your Canon Adventure. Hell most of the fanbase still aggressively doesn't give a toss about anything that happens in the cartoons, even as characters from them are now brought into live action. So do I watch the first Star Wars movie and shake my head every time Leia is on screen because she doesn't know how to run? Nah.
