A recurring joke I don't get or find funny...

A few times on the show Jack would say that he is living with two girls to another man.
This got his mind going right into the gutter thinking that Jack is having sex with both of them.

I don't get it why that would be every time it would get mentioned.

Did men and women not live together as platonic roommates back then?
Must have been a new thing that Jack and the girls created, I guess.

The concept of this show was outdated at the time of the show. He also wouldn't have to pretend to be gay to have female roommates.

Back in the 1970's, it was frowned upon to be living with a member of the opposite sex unless you were married.

reply

It was deplorable. Not funny.
It was as embarrassing to watch today as it was then.
LAZY writing with canned laughter for effect.
This was written for teenage boys who never even listened to the dialogue.
T&A were all it promised and failed to deliver. Most of the 70's comedies were like this.
The only difference with the 80's was they no longer tried to sell it as "family friendly".
Hypocritical to the point nauseous.

reply

On tv, it was a new thing. It caused quite an uproar at the time.

No

reply

The whole show is not funny in a modern lens.

reply

It's not not funny because it's un-PC. It's not funny because it's just bad.

Think about the 60's and 70's... Drugs and free love.
