Your are Brody...But you can only pick one of these fine hunters,who do you choose? Only one though, because you would need a bigger boat for three. (Quint's boat can be used for either hunter, but Quint won't work with Hooper)

Hooper (Dreyfuss)- Brains, cutting edge technology, a methodical and relentless personality.

Or

Quint (Shaw)- Brawn, instinct and experience, a fierce motivation and hatred of sharks.

Who is best at killing this monster?

Hooper brings red & white.
Quint brings his homemade swill.

Hooper: under water closed circuit tv.

Hooper: strobe light

Hooper: The Aurora, a floating asylum for shark research.
Quint: The USS Indianapolis that delivered the bomb.

Quint: I’m gonna draw him into the shallows and drown him.
Hooper: has things on board that can kill a shark.

It depends on what your goal is. If you want to hear the exact scientific name of the shark in a whiny voice as you are being eaten, choose Hooper.
If you want someone who will give his life fighting to kill the shark, go with Quint.

Yes, it’s a vote for Quint. He is one mean tough SOB. I read the book before the movie came out (that’s how old I am). In the book Hooper is more obnoxious & annoying than in the movie.

With all due respect to Hooper, if I picked him and found out I went my entire life without having heard Quint's speech, I couldn't live with myself.

It is such a tough call, I love science and respect learning, but the Quint character is so compelling.

I love both characters, but I’d go with Quint for two reasons. First, the scene with the piano wire shows Quint’s experience. Second, the scene with Hooper taking pictures of the shark shows his fascination with sharks, but he doesn’t seem to realize the danger with this particular beast. Quint has known from the beginning that this is a big, dangerous shark (city council scene). Quint’s hatred of sharks could certainly endanger everyone on board, but I’ll take his guts and experience.
