Anyone get a Scooby Doo vibe from this?

I wonder if it was intentional. You've got a bunch of "kids" driving around in a van exploring a deserted property. The crazy hitchiker looks like a deranged Shaggy and is even wearing a green t-shirt.

I DONT REMEMBER THE SCOOBY GANG GETTING DISMEMBERED AND EATEN MUCH.

reply

I do remember thinking that guy looked like Shaggy! Although half the guys probably looked like that at that time.

reply

The similarities are certainly there: The green van full youths investigating a mystery in a spooky environment with two Daphnes, sorta (but no Velma), and a demented version of Shaggy, not to mention a scary antagonist that chases/threatens them. It was probably unconsciously borrowed.

reply

I can see a similarity although I don't think the handicapped guy resembled anyone in the Mystery Inc gang.

reply

Kind of. A bunch of young people in a van, that dressed in the same style of clothing as the characters in Scooby Doo.

That's where the similarities end though.

reply

Maybe there should have been an ending where they caught Leatherface and unmasked him, revealing him to have actually been Old Man Withers the whole time. And he would have gotten away with it too, if not for those meddling hippies.

reply

If they happened to bring Scrappy-Do along, I would hope he would be the first to perish.

reply

Agreed!
