Death Wish (1974) vs Dirty Harry (1971)

Dirty Harry

I like the Death Wish series of movies a lot more than I do the Dirty Harry movies.

Death Wish is a much more compelling story but both are good in their own ways. Death Wish is a 10/10 and Dirty Harry is an 8/10*.

8.5 if we can bend the IMDb scale a bit.

Not even close. While dirty Harry goes too far with it's law and order message Death wish is like a clown show.

In DW every role is like a cartoon. Bad guys act like monkeys having seizures. You have Yosemite Sam in Arizona. The liberal cry baby son in law. Daaaaaad she will not give BJ any more. Daaad.

The lack of subtly is comedy. I watch it every now and then just to laugh.

Dirty Harry

i will give the edge to dirty harry

I like them the same. One is a cop story about a badass who takes out a psych. Another is the story of a victim embracing his ability to become a vigilante.

Now, if you want to talk about antagonists, its Dirty Harry all the way.
