My take on Star Trek

Overrated. I asked a stranger to describe an alien after I asked if he had ever seen Star Trek he said no. He described Spock. after seeing the first ten episodes I decided to stop watching. It felt repetitive. Ultimately a disappointing watch. I saw the Wrath Of Kahn and it was good but not great.

Too bad you are unable to enjoy this series. Oh well, your loss.

I enjoy the original Star Trek series but can completely understand how someone in 2023 watching this 1960s series for the first time would be left disappointed!

I think Lost in Space might interest you.

Then I guess the franchise is not for you. Go find something else to watch if this doesn't entertain you. I know I did when I found out how stupid "Dr. Who" was.

Well when I give a fuck about your take I'll let you know.

I love TOS but I grew up watching the reruns with my best friend, who's entire family were all trekkies. This was in the early 90's before being a nerd was mainstream and cool.

In other words, I love the show and the entire franchise, but my nostalgia is surely tinting my view of TOS.

Star Trek is a show about ideas and concepts plus the occasional good story. The first several episodes are fairly rough around the edges. It really did not hit its stride until Dagger of the Mind onward. The style of story telling is not for everyone and Roddenberry was one to use ideas from the time of radio drama which was winding down by 1970. For me a good show but I got to see the series by 1975 so it came first so to speak when compared to other shows and franchises.
