Movie would have been a 10/10 if it wasn't for a few hiccups.

First off how did Gasim fall off his camel in the desert without any of the 49 others noticing? Felt really contrived to because of that have Lawrence go back to get him.

Second is that the movie could REALLY have been improved if we had an active moving map (like the Indiana Jones movies) of the middle east tracking Lawrence and his crew's movements because that would really improve the context on how tough their journey was. I know where Damascus, Cairo and Jerusalem is. I have never even heard of most of the other cities involved in the story. Have they changed names in the last 100 years?

I think the map would have made it feel too much like a lighthearted adventure.

The filmmakers then trusted in the intelligence & imagination of their audiences.

Lawrence really did go back to save a man who fallen off his camel and got behind the caravan. This really happened so it is not contrived.

reply

How did no one notice when it happened?

reply

Ehm...because he was the last in a caravan and nobody looked back for a while.

also, after 2 and a half weeks riding a camel, you're not in the best of your faculties

By any modern standards it is a 10/10. It may not be perfect but compared to pretty much anything else it is at the pinnacle of filmmaking. Ask any director and they wish they could make a film like this.

MY DAD'S FAVORITE MOVIE...ITS QUITE GOOD...BUT I WOULDNT PERSONALLY GIVE IT A 10...MAYBE AN 8.5/10.

reply

The first two thirds are great, the last third it gets bogged down.
