When I hear people say it was great for POC for having Ricky I remind them..

...that the show, in its 180 episodes, only had one black actor, Sam McDaniel, who appeared only in one episode, playing a role of servitude, as a porter.

Man, if only Lucy and Ricky had used their show as a platform to elevate people and make America a little more comfortable with black people.

Why does it matter? We are just people. They didn't have many Asian characters either does that matter?

reply

Because this show had black viewers too. Because places like New York didn't have strict segregation like the south, and it would have helped white, segregated America feel more at ease with their fellow citizens of color.

What about Arnaz, who was the first Latin TV star? And he was gorgeous, brilliant and was the great voice behind the scenes. Despite their being married in real life, Ball had to fight CBS to cast him.

But if you want to throw some shade on a classic, 70 year TV show, that's your beef.

I dunno. You sound like you need a hobby.

reply

70s?

reply

1951 was 70 years ago.

"classic, 70 year [old] TV show"

reply

Forgive them. Their brain went into the night.

reply

The show can cast whoever they want, they donโ€™t have to operate on a quota system just to make you happy. Iโ€™m pretty sure the show never had an anti-black message in it so get the hell over it

reply

Did they check the vertically-challenged box on your scorecard?

UGH...YOU SUCK.๐Ÿ™„

reply

Porter was one of the best jobs for blacks, plenty of tips.

BTW, only SJWs say POC!

Is this not the most moronic thread you have ever read?

Look at who the OP is... ๐Ÿ™„

reply

Yeah I know, I've encountered him on other threads and he's a joke and a fragile little snowflake.

reply

I think he just likes to Troll. Many of his posts are just crazy.

If only the woke mafia would have started calling all white people "RACISTS" in the 60s instead of now.

FUCK.
