What Kind of natural talent does Taylor actually have?

Cause to me, even as a country singer she was just ok at the most! Her old music didn't even sound country! It sounded like pop. I never would've known she was a country singer had it not been mentioned by the media.

- I cannot think of ONE natural talent that sets her apart from other artists.

- she can't really sing, her voice is flat.

- she can't dance (like at all lol)

- she can't act ( "Valentine's Day" looked god awful)

- she isn't creative with her song writing! It's always the same thing!

- the only thing she does is write diss tracks and whiny break up songs.

- She's no different than Katy Perry.

- Oh! and the "bad ass" image she's trying to portray is a rip off of what Rihanna did a couple years back.

You can change her name to any other modern musician and the question would still hold up. You even mentioned one of them in Katy Perry.

She definitely can sing. She has won numerous awards and her concerts sell out. Her song writing is pretty good and it isn't just break up or diss tracks.

-Plenty of artists have won numerous awards and concerts sell out, so I don't see how she stands out.

-majority of her songs are diss tracks, and that's what her whole career is based on! and her annoying personality doesn't help!

-Her voice is not terrible but not excellent either. On a scale of 1-10, her vocal chords is 6.5 at the most.

Being famous is a little bit skill and a lot of being in the right place at the right time. He can base was mainly very young girls (middle school age) and she struck a chord of sorts with them and it stuck. It helps that she started in country. Country music is in a weird place right now. The fans then grew up with her. She can also write and compose and play her own music. A lot of "pop" talent can't do that. They are just a pretty face that sings what some agent thinks will sell records. That gives her a little more freedom to do what she wants, which in turn increases her ability to sell records to her fan base. That makes her more opportunities for airplay, which is where stars are made or broken. You can be the most talented person out there, but if you can't get played you don't get popular with the masses. That's where the money/power comes in. Also, it helps that she has the looks that young girls want to emulate.

As I said before, plenty of artist can write similar songs to the ones mentioned in scarlettide's YouTube links.

Artists like Colbie Calliet, Lana Del Ray, and Ellie Goulding are similar, yet, none of them get as much recognition as Taylor does and they should.

80% of her fame comes from breakup songs, sympathy, and diss tracks. Without these, she'd be an underrated artist with about 2-3 hit singles at the most

I am paraphrasing something I read years ago explaining her inexplicable popularity, so this is not mine, but it seemed reasonable at the time.

It doesn't matter that she has a reedy paper thin voice shakier than Michael J Fox in an earthquake or that her attempts to "rock" are laughably bad. What matters is that she is ridiculously adorable wearing a sundress and cowboy boots with those blond ringlets bouncing around that doe eyed pretty face.

That aside, and with my apologies to MJF, she quite apparently does pop music quite well by any standard despite your particular critical take, and by all accounts, works very hard.

Yep, she's probably the worst of the new pop stars. Her songs are unlistenable. I guess people think she's attractive, but I don't see it. She's very bad. There are pop stars out there with real talent, such as Beyonce and Adele. Swift doesn't even have a fraction of that talent.

She writes undeniably catchy songs. That’s definitely a gift.
