Trump tax returns will be made public [by new year], US House panel votes

Merry X-mas, Donnie! https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-64044078

The move caps a nearly four-year legal battle by Democrats to obtain the documents, which was ultimately decided by the US Supreme Court last month.

US presidents are not required by law to release their tax returns, but for decades they have done so voluntarily.

The former president has fought hard to shield his tax returns.

The US House Ways and Means Committee voted 24-16 on Tuesday evening to publish the documents, with all Democrats on the panel in favour and all Republicans opposed.

In 2016, Mr Trump became the first major-party presidential nominee since Richard Nixon in 1972 to decline to publicly release his tax returns while campaigning for office. At the time, he said he would do so after an Internal Revenue Service audit had concluded.

I hope Trump thanks them for helping him fulfill his promise to make his returns public.

Rather sad when a grown man needs to have his hand held to keep a simple promise.

How is that student loan forgiveness going?

reply

The Student Loan Forgiveness program is going through the same cycle that DJT's taxes has gone through with much different outcomes for the people involved.

DJT's taxes and the tactics he used/uses were to benefit him and defraud the public.

President Biden's Student Loan Forgiveness and the tactics being used against him and the program, are to hurt Biden and not help Americans.

reply

As usual you post an utterly delusional take.

reply

Please refer to me which part is delusional?

That was a PERFECT statement. 😉

And how is it going? All that noise you guys made about the tax records and how it would be the end. Lots of progress now the tax records are available I'm assuming, can't wait to see the inevitable court case resulting from it!

I am not actually a spokesperson for the "you guys" that you speak of but AG for the SDNY has made considerable progress with those documents. In the court of public opinion as to those released documents all I can say is that DJT, Trump Holdings, the Trump Crime Family are found to be both Tax Avoiders and Tax Evaders.
the Lots of progress now the tax records are available I'm assuming, can't wait to see the inevitable court case resulting from it!
The Political court as would be executed and exercised at the ballot box is for the next cycle. DJT was quite clever and successful in stalling and delaying their release to get elected so that "asset" or chess piece is no longer on the board.

lol no

Trump's forgiveness plan was working well as far as I know. https://www.nytimes.com/2019/08/21/us/trump-veterans-student-loans.html

It remains to be seen how well Biden's will work. https://www.wsj.com/articles/biden-administration-to-discharge-5-8-billion-in-student-debt-for-disabled-borrowers-11629387475

Do you oppose both plans?

What you think his tax returns will reveal?

He is not as rich as he claims? Who doesn't suspect that? He pays little or no taxes? He admitted that in his debate with Hillary. If avoided, not evaded, taxes that is legal.

What kind of smoking gun do you think the tax returns are?

What you think his tax returns will reveal?
Tax Avoidance versus Tax Evasion.

reply

Avoidance. Otherwise major CPA firms put their career on the line. But we will see.

reply

The IRS were sleeping on the job in regards to Trump.
Now they’ll start digging and tax evasion last I heard is illegal

reply

We will get back to this

reply

When do you expect these charges to be filed?

reply

I suspect it will reveal that Trump over-valued some properties for the purpose of securing favorable loans and under-valued the same properties for tax purposes. This is illegal.

reply

If that is the case, he should be charged .

reply

The 1/6 committee did recommend it.

The committee said it has collected sufficient evidence to warrant charges against Trump, and others, for obstruction of an official proceeding of the United States government, conspiring to defraud the U.S., making false statements to the federal government and inciting or engaging in an insurrection.

what does that have to do with his tax returns?

reply

A tax return lists assets that contribute to your income. If a person is undervaluing an asset on their return, then this could be fraud. This would be like my employer paying me part of my salary under the table and only reporting part of my income on the W-2.

It seems that you have never prepared your own tax return.

reply

Wow. I couldn't believe the absolute bombshells revealed in President Trump's tax returns. Oh wait. What a surprise. Another non story. All these people hyped up that they would make Trump look bad lol. I bet you're feeling pretty dumb right now.

Honestly, I'd kind of surprised Trump is so clean. TDS sufferers dig and dig and dig for dirt for years and can't find anything...

Mmmmm what a tasty nothingburger this was!
