This guy

Is such a twat.

Why is there so much hate for this guy? I don't know much about him but I've seen some clips on youtube from his podcast and he seems like a nice guy. Although, he does have a lot of crackpots on his show.

reply

Jealousy of his immense success. Musk gets away with it because he cusses at reporters and promises to turn Twitter into an adult playground.

reply

I think he pisses off people because basically he espouses views they don't have and/or talks to the crackpots that you're speaking of. People hear that he doesn't like trans athletes competing in women's sport (particularly fighting, particularly MMA) or they hear he's talking to/agreeing with somebody who does not like the COVID vaccines and they think Rogan is, therefore, spreading lies and evil.

Now, I do think he often gets things wrong, but I've also never tuned in to the Joe Rogan Experience for medical advice and think people who do that do so at their own peril.

reply

Not to mention, Joe constantly reminds people that he's wrong a lot and not an expert on all things, and they should do their own research. He does not try to convince anyone he's some brilliant know it all, he's just willing to talk about anything.

Yeah, he seems reasonable.

reply

All very sensible, yeah. People are almost "in" to tribalism sometimes where they don't like people who aren't checking all the boxes.

Most comforting, for me, is that Rogan changes his mind. He's walked back things like moon landing conspiracy thinking because he actually considered new evidence (or, new arguments to him, anyway) and changed his mind. This is the mark of a better brain or more reasonable personality than most others.

reply

Absolutely. It isn't a strength to be inflexible.

reply

I definitely respect people who can and do change their minds more than people who don't. Of course, if the mind is too pliable, it might speak to somebody who isn't putting any thought into their viewpoints, so almost any new information will cause them to completely change their POV. But as long as the person changes based on new information and good evidence, it's definitely a big positive.

reply

I see. I guess I'm more forgiving than others. I realize he has some crazy views but that's no reason to hate or be angry. His show can be somewhat entertaining. I stopped watching it a while back. It's worth checking out though. Free clips on youtube.

"...he doesn't like trans athletes competing in women's sports...."

That is not "wrong" Ace. He is 100% correct.

reply

Didn't say he was. I was just trying to more-or-less neutrally present why people dislike him.

reply

They hate him because in the 10,000 hours of his podcast, he's said 15 minutes of something they disagree with that was probably taken out of context when they read it on twitter anyway. And most people don't hate him, that's why he's the most listened to podcast in the world.

Perfect! 😂

reply

Why do you think that?
