Did he commit suicide?

He was my biggest male idol as a child.

reply

I'm not sure one can say that dilated cardiomyopathy is suicide, but his lifestyle may have contributed to it.

I was just listening to Listen Without Prejudice the other day thinking that it's a shame that he's gone because his voice was one of the best.

reply

sorry I didnt check in a few years. cant you get that when you intentionally overdose on something?

reply

Maybe, but he did have heart and liver disease

reply

sorry, I didnt know that.

reply

I think the bad habits contributed to his early death

Sad ending and far too young for sure, a cautionary tale if there ever needed to be one

reply

Yeah, I think there was some heavy drinking there. 😥

reply

Listen Without Prejudice is actually the only studio album of him I dont have. I have only one Wham! album.

reply

No. But he had self-destructive habits. He had unprotected sex with strangers. Any gay male who did that before around 2014 was guaranteeing to catch HIV (that was before PrEP came along as a solution to this problem). Plus drugs.

reply

Some people call a lifestyle like his "slow suicide". If he got tired of waiting for the end and took matters into his own hands he wouldn't have been the first, but if that were the case I don't think his family would make that public.

It's none of our business after all.

reply

Self destructive behavior. Homosexuals are 7 times more likely to have a drinking/drug problem. It's the guilt they carry.

reply

I would not blame that on being gay, but he did have a very self destructive mentality. I saw the interview where he got an attitude with a reporter who questioned his desire to cruise for sex. Gay or hetero ,you are asking for trouble.

It actually is correlated with it because people instinctually know it's wrong, risky, and dangerous. It's why homosexuals use substance abuse to drown out the guilt and shame of their lifestyle:

https://nida.nih.gov/research-topics/substance-use-suds-in-lgbtq-populations

Instead of acknowledging it's a naturally disruptive lifestyle (viz., these people are literally fighting their own biology) the researchers keep throwing out their own biases in saying that if society was just "more accepting" then everything would be fine, but that's far from the truth. In fact, homosexuals in homosexual-only communities suffer the worst forms of substance abuse, depression and suicide compared to if they live among normal people:

Sadly, this is very common theme among them; the self-destructive behaviour from -- as Ticketsplease rightfully pointed out -- from the unresolved guilt. It's no different than the same sort of substance abuse that promiscuous women engage in for very similar reasons.
