Pure class

Surprised not a single post. Was a stone cold hottie when younger and still a class act now. Had a great career., mostly TV admittedly from the new avengers, through to Ab Fab.
Met her once at a party in the 90s, so must have been her 50s but had the attention of all the guys in the room. She was lovely and still so sexy.

I was watching the extras on a dvd of On Her Majesty's Secret Service. Someone told a story of how she organised all the other girls and got them crocheting to fill the time. When a crew member ambled along to chat one of them up they were told to go away, we're busy.
Also, I was on a train in England (I do mean England and not Britain) the other day and the recorded messages sounded like her - possibly I'm wrong but they certainly caught my attention.

As a kid I used to watch The New Avengers each week, just waiting for that flash of Purdey leg as she kicked some guy!

reply

When Princess Di came along she was rocking the Purdey look. Not all the girls could pull it off.

Her post mud bath shower is one of the few highlights of Curse Of The Pink Panther (1983).

I've become a huge fan in the last year or two, since first found her travel documentaries on youtube. I knew and loved her from AbFab, but the real woman is even more faaaabulous! Utterly engaging, intelligent, ethical, interested in everything, utterly gracious, utterly elegant, just someone I'd like to know, someone I'd like to travel with. Hell, someone I'd like to BE.

Also an admirable person, apparently she spent decades working the political system, to get military pensions for Indian veterans of WWII. Successfully, BTW.

reply

She did do that but it was for family reasons.

people fight for the causes they know ... those that fight at all

reply

Or perhaps in this case, people fight for the just causes nobody else is fighting for, just because nobody else is fighting!

Or at least, the sort of people that lawmakers take seriously weren't fighting for.
