R.I.P.

Very sad to hear that Tim Brooke-Taylor has died with Coronavirus. I loved The Goodies as a kid and later his appearances on various TV and radio panel shows... a warm and very funny man.

Truly sad. always loved the Goodies

reply

The giant kitten stomping over London probably made me laugh more than just about anything else on TV in my childhood.

I particularly enjoyed Goodies Rule OK when all the puppets took over. But then I can't think of an episode I didn't like.

reply

Even though they stole the idea from the Pythons

reply

Oh, The Goodies owe an awful lot to the Pythons. But as a child Tim, Graeme and Bill were more appealing to me and I have such wonderful memories of their show. My appreciation of the Python team came later, as I guess is the case for many of my generation.

reply

I’m truly saddened. The Goodies were part of my childhood.

I only know him from his computer scene in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Hilarious scene. RIP

reply

Yes, I love that scene too!

What can you say about Brooke-Taylor's persona in particular regards to the Goodies ? He so often came across as an eccentric, ridiculous, pompous, namby pamby, middles class twit on screen and boy did we love him for it. LOL. Just like everyone else, he and the other two Goodies were a huge part of my early childhood and the world will be that little bit poorer for the loss of Tim.
