He is a victim of hollywood racism

Wow

after seeing a ton of 80's movies i can't help but point this out.

Take a look at predator. When he meets arnold and they arm wrestle. He is the one that gets dominated and gives in. And he HAD to get the most gruesome death of the movie. All the other characters were killed in 1 second (one even off screen) but we watch as he gets delimbed and struggles to survive. Wow.

Then look at the rocky movies. He has to be beaten by rocky in every movie. And he gets KILLED by Ivan drago, a towering white man!! HORRIBLE!!

I don't know if i should feel sorry for him for being portrayed like this or to hate him for offering to be, for the money.

If you didn't even know that Apollo wins the first Rocky fight, you are already on shaky ground. In fact, if you count the sparring match they had at the end of Rocky 3, Apollo's record is actually 2-1 verses Balboa. Thats a winning record.

And in Predator... he's the bad guy... He's the like the Paul Reiser character in ALIENS.... maybe not overtly evil, but an antagonist, nevertheless. He's SUPPOSED to lose in arm wrestling matches with the hero. He's SUPPOSED to die a crazy death.

Maybe you need to look at his IMDB resume. Carl has a very successful career. Not an A-lister, but doing better than about 95% of SAG members. I'm a fan. I wish he made to the top, but it usually doesn't happen.

It's not racism. He's an actor playing a role.

what is altternative to this? weathers not cast in predator, then you complain there is too many white actor in movie.

also, poncho gets most gruesome death in predator. did you not see his suffering?

billy gets head rip off.

poor four eyes hawkins get disembowlled.

Of course he loses the arm wrestle in Predator, it's Arnold's movie! Arnold's THE guy, the one who's left to go mano a mano against the seemingly unstoppable alien! We'd hardly see him as 'the one' who has a chance if we'd all seen him lose to Weathers! It would've kinda dented his hero-ness! 😂

You're an idiot. And you're also blocked

I was just looking at Carl Weathers' 1980s filmography, which was presumably, his height of fame as an actor with the Rocky franchise, Predator, and Action Jackson. And yet, it was ironically, also a pretty lean period for him:
• 1980 – nothing
• 1981 – Death Hunt
• 1982 – Rocky II
• 1983 – nothing
• 1984 – nothing
• 1985 – Rocky IV, Braker (rejected pilot, aired as a TV movie)
• 1986 – The Defiant Ones (TV movie), Fortune Dane (TV series, cancelled after five episodes)
• 1987 – Predator
• 1988 – Action Jackson
• 1989 – Tour of Duty (guest role, four episodes)

And keep in mind that at the time, there was still a big gulf between how movies and TV were perceived.
