Alan Alda or Alan Arkin.

In a battle of the Alan's with a double A initial, who takes the cake as better actor?

Put me down for Arkin.

reply

Easily Arkin.

Arkin. It's not even a contest.

Arkin, definitely.

3-2 for Arkin.

Asking!

Alda is a decent actor, but Arkin us pure joy! He's been stealing films since I was a child, and I'm old.

reply

Arkin. I never liked Alan Alda, and I think it's both because I never cared that much for "M.A.S.H." and for the Hawkeye Pierce character that always got on my nerves and his roles in Woody Alan movies who seems to always give Alda the A7 role. It carried over to Louie CK giving him the A7 role in "Horace And Pete", and what an A7 he was.

reply

I didn't like "M.A.S.H." either, but as a film actor, I think he can be solid in certain roles. He's very limited though. He wouldn't be great doing Shakespeare or as a Bond villain.

reply

Oh, yeah, he works in certain roles. Someone mentioned "Marriage Story", but I think Ray Liotta was amazing in that as the lawyer. Everyone in the cast was, including Alda, but Liotta stood out to me, as did Laura Dern too.

He's good as the kind of slimy tough talking but wuss character.
