Dustin Hoffman or Robert De Niro?
I will definitely go with Hoffman because of his range. De Niro usually played a tough guy, but Hoffman played EVERYTHING, and did amazing at EVERYTHING.
I had goose bumps to the point of leprosy during The Graduate - still probably my favorite of all time.
Oh, and he was so damn good in Tootsie too, and Rain man.
Pretty much every movie!

Agree. I still think that Hoffman is a way better actor, this is true.
I like them both, Hoffman and De Niro!
shareHoffman, easily. A much better chameleon than DeNiro, and I have nothing against Bobby. But from the Graduate to Rain Man to Tootsie, throw in Little Big Man. Kramer v Kramer, Papillon, Lenny - man ! I don't think DeNiro could have done half the roles Hoffman did. Maybe Dustin couldn't have been a Raging Bull, but off the top that's about the only thing RD would have over DH.

shareWhile I agree with everyone that says Hoffman has range, De Niro clearly has depth. And I can't equivocate between them, but to say, they are both excellent actors. (Oh, wait, it turns out I CAN equivocate between them.)
