Indiana Jones 5's $300M Failure Means Harrison Ford's 3 Franchise Exits Were All Box Office Disappointments

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny only made $300 million, and it marks Harrison Ford's third legacy movie that's disappointed at the box office.

I thought 'The Force Awakens' (however dire) was a huge hit?

reply

2 billion at the box office. Something like that.

reply

Huge flop then? Ha-ha

reply

While "Dial of Destiny" might not be the best way to end his career, it's quite arguable that the reason why "Force Awakens" made two billion was largely based on the star power of Harrison Ford as Han Solo.

reply

His last appearance as Solo.

reply

You thought of 'The Force Awakens' because after the batshit insane hype dyed down, most people came to their senses & it widely came to be criticized as major creative disappointment with scores of problems that not only sandbagged the trilogy but undermined the entire franchise.

reply

That doesnt matter, in long term what matter is the legacy of a movie if it is memorable or not, and yes that movie was a flop all the money that got was because of the hype once the hype is gone the only thing that remain is a mediocre crashgrab

reply

He can at least be proud of Blade Runner 2049 though, that movie is a sci-fi masterpiece regardless of box office performance and Ford was brilliant in it.

reply

Yes, Blade Runner 2049 was great, it’s amazing how putting the focus on telling a story works.

reply

I have yet to see Blade Runner but heard it's amazing. All blame for Star Wars and Indiana Jones can be placed on Kathleen Kennedy. Ford just showed up to collect a paycheck.

reply

Box office is not really that important if we talk about the end of an entire career, Indian JOnes and Star Wars were real flops doesnt matter how much money they got Blade Runner in the other hand was a good way for Ford to say farewell to the franchise
